First Day at School in Devonport

The coughing and colds continue unabated. More antibiotics from the (reluctant) doctor.
Tabitha and Tristan started school in NZ yesterday as they are 5 years old.
I was meant to go to a piano concert at the Czech Embassy this evening but persistent cough ruled that out.

Coughs & Cookers

A week of coughs and colds.

New Belling cooker as the glass hob cracked on the old one.

Levelers and Chartists on a wet afternoon

Wet day so time for some much delayed reading.
Do you ever get the feeling that our history, as portrayed in the media, is controlled and manipulated.
The Levelers and The Chartists were arguably the most important contribution England made to the advance of democracy. But do we have films and mini-series on television? No.
If you read what they were fighting for you can see why. Far too uncomfortable for the powers-that-be.
Very fond memories of my old history teacher Mr Hinchcliffe who loved The Chartists and often gave an aside from the syllabus to tell us 'what really happened'. (It's John Lilburne, The Leveller in case you wondered)

Tory Conference Time

Enough to make you weep!
Extra £10bn benefit cut.
£40,000 tax refund to each millionaire (every year).
No mansion tax.
OK to shoot peasants.
And “you can't just balance the budget on the wallets of the rich” [a chance would be a fine thing]
 More to come yet.......

Just love the Autumn

A very pleasant walk across Hamstead Heath yesterday to 'The Prince of Wales', Highgate.
I just love this time of year.
The sale of Mother's flat is now 'done and dusted' with all the loose ends tied up. It has been a VERY long time.
Tory Party conference on I am looking forward to a week of shouting at the television. That will show them!

I told you I was gullible

If they said something on Tax Havens I might even consider to voting for them again.

Good to have speeches without a autocue.

Here is the 'One Nation' speech.
